Miami, FL asked in Personal Injury and Landlord - Tenant for Florida

Q: Hello, I was in a slip and fall accident where I rent. I have gone to the Dr's, and they did xrays

They determined that I had a right knee contusion

And that I can't work , ( I do hair, and doordash/instacart )

I have to follow up with an orthopedic surgeon on Tuesday, this is the third time I have fallen due to really messed up conditions with faulty steps with no lights , and the last one is a puddle of water in the outside hallway to get into my apartment, there's a hose that's tangled next to the puddle which has formed algae, and I was wearing sneakers ,and still slipped crashing down on my knee , he wants me to sign a liability clause now....

The whole outside property is extremely hazardous ,what should I do ? I have hospital papers , photos of the injury site, and all the dangerous areas , plus photos of injuries.

A: You may have a case. Retain counsel here in Florida on contingency fee, which means you pay nothing unless you win the case. Your case will turn on what evidence you have that the property manager was at fault for this accident (ie lack of lighting, faulty steps, etc) and also the severity of your injuries. Take pictures of the faulty steps before management repairs them and also take pictures of the area at night that shows a lack of lighting. Attorneys on Avvo are precluded from soliciting your case so you need to research our backgrounds and reach out to one of us.
