Shepherdsville, KY asked in Criminal Law for Kentucky

Q: How likely is it to be granted parole after getting probation revoked?

My friend was charged with wanton endangerment in 2017 and was granted probation/diversion after a short time spent in city jail. This year in 2021 he violated his probation for the first time and the sentencing judge revoked his probation and sentenced him to 3 years in prison. With all his credit and good time his projected release date is now September of next year. He has a file review with the parole board this month and was wondering if in your experience with clients you’ve dealt with in the past, he would or would not be likely to be granted parole by the parole board given a situation like his. He’s never been to prison before and doesn’t have a criminal history other than the 1 charge of wanton endangerment in 2017.

A: Chances are fairly good that he may be paroled.
