Q: If there is no fine amount, citing officers signature or date of stop on a traffic citation is it legit.
I called clerk and they didn't have my ticket on record.
A: With technology in todays world a signature of the officer is often not on the printed citation, however, their name should always be on there. As far as the amount, that is not required to be on the citation as these amounts do change and the officer is not responsible for that. A date of the stop should also be on the citation. Sometimes clerical errors do occur, but that seems like a little too much missed. However, if the clerk for the citing agency does not have a copy of it, then they cannot properly assess the amount either. I would not throw it out, but keep track of all documentation and correspondence between you and the clerks office.
