Q: Recently a new neighbor moved in with a pitbull and yorkie in Kenner. No leashing. Chases neighborhood cats. Options?
The pitbull has been seen across the street and been seen chasing the local feral cats. We have children in the area as well I worry about. At best the dogs are caged most the day but let loose to run free multiple times a day with no fences.
This neighbor lets/encourages her dog to defecate in my yard. Does not clean it up claiming the feral cats do it in hers and it is my fault because I use to feed them. Refuses to leash the dogs. She has gone as far as to threaten to poison/kill the local feral cats stating they bring fleas in their home.
I tried talking to her but she is angry and does not want to understand/believe the laws in place for safety of both the animals and people. I informed her about the laws I knew so she would be informed about things (Calmly and at length).
I am moving soon so I'm trying to avoid any further challenges with this person. What else can be done that would not cause additional issues?
Thank you.
A: Take photos of the dog crapping in your yard, running loose, chasing cats, chasing kids, chasing dogs. THEN file a complaint with animal control.
