Q: if you plea self defense on a murder in the first degree charge what could the charges be droped down too

A: Every criminal case depends on its own unique facts. The plea that you would enter on a self-defense claim would be not guilty. During the course of the prosecution, you are welcome to (via your lawyer), to negotiate a lesser charge that you would plead guilty to in exchange for a lighter sentence. You need to discuss the negotiation strategy with counsel. Criminal cases can always be settled out of court just like civil cases.
