Q: I have no lease with my landlord. He has just told me (in person) that he is raising my rent 100.00 as of next month .
I am on disability. What do I do. He said it's due to increased operating expenses
A: If there is no written lease, then it is a month to month tenancy, and landlord or tenant can terminate it at the end of any month by giving 30 days' written notice. If you don't pay the new rent amount, then he can give you a 30 day notice to terminate the lease. If you don't leave, then landlord can file an eviction.
