A: An Alabama attorney could advise best, but your question remains open for two weeks. Law firms generally provide a summary of how money is distributed at the conclusion of a case. Without knowing more details, an attorney could only make general guesses about the figures here. Assuming that you entered a one-third attorney fee that is commonly used nationwide with many firms, it's possible that the case carried heavy liens. If your accident occurred in the course of employment, the workers' comp carrier will look to repayment of benefits. Another possibility is a health insurance carrier or medical provider is asserting liens (claims against the money in your award). But these are only general guesses, and they could be irrelevant; only your attorney would know how the figures on your case were ultimately calculated. Good luck
