Baton Rouge, LA asked in Family Law and Tax Law for Louisiana

Q: Does a prenup help with tax issues?

My boyfriend has back taxes he owes from before we were together. If we decide to get married would a prenup keep my refund from being taken to cover his debt? We live in Louisiana, or is there someway other than filing married but separately because we wouldnt get the deductions? Thanks!
