Q: can you be fired in florida for not taking covid shot by a cleaning service even tho the bank employees dont have to ?
I signed a contract and worked two weeks and in my contract it says nothing about having a covid shot ,the manager is black and acted like he got mad once i said i didnt beleive in it, on the first night of training ,he had ask if i had it and i said no i dont beleive in it but once i seen his anger i dropped the subject then two weeks later he called said its a new policy to get the shot! if i could finish the month out and possible find him someone with the covid shot to replce me! Several times he said he knew i was doing a great job cause no one complained! The bank manager is my ex family she said im the best the bank has had and no Wells Fargo employee has to have the shot and im the only one in the building after hours! Im also going through medical treatment why i cant get the shot but he has never ask,the second conversation got ugly so i feel like he was discriminating against me so i dropped it, Im demanding it in writing today!
A:
Unfortunately you may.
Florida is at will state. At-will means that an employer can terminate an employee at any time for any reason, except an illegal one, or for no reason without incurring legal liability. Likewise, an employee is free to leave a job at any time for any or no reason with no adverse legal consequences.
