Irving, TX asked in Animal / Dog Law for Louisiana

Q: Is it legally okay to leave my dog in a car with a cooling fan, windows cracked, & a bowl of water?

This is just for future knowledge so I can avoid any problems. I just want to know if someone can still break into my car even if I take precautions to make my dog as comfortable as possible. I once took him into town with me to the park and when I was heading home, I suddenly got a message from my mom to grab some groceries. I was very worried about doing so and losing my dog even if it was for a few items. I just want to make sure that if this happens again, I can make my dog as comfortable as possible without someone legally breaking my windows or calling the cops. I love my dog and it would break my heart if I were to lose him.

A: To leave your dog in the car risks you losing your dog, damage to your car and a fine.
