Youngsville, LA asked in Child Custody and Child Support for Louisiana

Q: If both parents lose custody of child to a grandparent and the grandparent files for child support who is responsible?

We both lost custody bc of drug addiction the court ruled that we were not to have contact with child at all no calls no visitations ect. But my ex mother in law let her daughter live with them right after this ruling and then then allowed my daughter to move in with her mom my ex-wife . I believe all this was done to stop me from having any contact with my daughter and my family as well bc thats what happened. But I have been on child support for almost 10 years but I'm the only one paying is that legal or can she do that why wouldn't my ex wife have to pay also and what can be done about all of this.

A: You should contact a child support lawyer in your area and set up a meeting---when you meet please bring a copy of the order relative to payment of child support and the order relative to custody so that the lawyer can review the law of your case and advise accordingly. Good luck.

A: Support Enforcement should put both parents on child support. Hire an attorney to file an exception.
