Q: Apartment background check didn't care about felony or even bring it up, did it even find the felony?
I hear a lot of information on that a background check will always find a felony, but I'm wondering if that is just BS. My felony was a non violent felony that resulted in only minimum security probation that was completed. The offense was 9 years ago but the conviction/ruling was 4/3 years ago. The city it was ruled in was in the same state as a previous state I lived in but in a completely different city so I had to travel for every court date. When I was in probation my probation officer said to never disclose that I had a felony because a lot of times it won't even be picked up since I didn't go to prison. I am now applying to jobs, and not lying about it, but I notice all of the jobs I apply to don't even ask about criminal history. I know when I get an offer they will background check, but since these are the top tech companies (huge companies) their HR has no say in the background check process anyway only their legal department does so revealing it early only hurts you.
