Q: Good morning
I have a Question I was wondering if we won a malpractice lawsuit for my mother and decided not to pay her medical bills with the lawsuit money could we be held responsible for her medical bills and with the attorney get in trouble for us not paying the medical bills
A: This is something that your attorney is in the best position to answer. However, your question remains open for two weeks. The reason it would be difficult for other attorneys, Tennessee or otherwise, to answer is that they would not have information contained in your file. This could include the disposition of liens, agreements made between attorney and opposing attorney, position of the respective medical providers on their bills (it's possible some of them are not liable for malpractice), and other information. It's possible this decision is in the hands of your attorney because they are responsible for the proper release of funds and reconciling of outstanding liens and accounts payable to medical providers. Good luck
