Arlington, TX asked in Child Custody and Divorce for Texas

Q: Can my ex’s girlfriend pickup my son alone if I don’t know her? Our custody order says known to both parents.

She’s came with him on pickups a few times and she had her take him to school without my knowledge but he panicked and I had to meet her to get him. In that short interaction I learned her name and that she doesn’t have her own child (in another country) which worried me. Drop off on Mondays are at 8 so he should’ve brought him to me instead but didn’t and our son was very late to school. The agreement was for him to take him to school or bring him home on time. Other than seeing her a few times I don’t actually know her. He’s telling me I have to release my son to her despite the order saying “known to both parents” which I took to mean family or close friends we both actually know. I’ve offered rescheduling or having a family member get him. Our son has a chemical imbalance in the brain, adhd and anxiety also which makes it harder to handle him. He’s already uncomfortable when his dad comes and letting him go alone with a stranger just doesn’t seem safe.
