Q: Hi, Recently I got an issue related to theft act. Before moving out, I was throwing away my stuffs on May 11th in early.
While doing so, I put all my stuffs outside of my apartment to organize and throw away some of them that I feel I do not need anymore.
After organizing and throwing away some of my stuffs, I realized I could not find one dresser. I put the important stuffs inside of one dresser that is a black (or possibly green) 3 floor plastic dresser to bring it back to my unit. As many people went outside to go for work or school in the morning, I could not realize that someone took the dresser. In this case, what should I do? I already asked my apartment leasing office manager to ask if someone who took it because he/she thought it was just a trash and did not realize there were some stuffs can return it to the leasing office?
Also I asked each unit near the garbage area to ask if they saw the dresser or if they took it could you give me the stuffs back.
Total cost of damage is approximate $15,000.
Also I sent the email to police officer.
In this case, what else can I do further?
A: I'm sorry this happened to you. It looks like you already did many of the things that could be done. If you have a renter's insurance policy, check its provisions for personal property loss. But keep in mind that there could be a deductible. I hope it turns up and you get it back. Good luck
