A: Typically there is no requirement to report a crime to police or come forward as a witness, with some exceptions. Most civil servants and law enforcement employees are required to report, and most states have laws requiring people to report child abuse. That being said, if the person was a regular citizen, had no obligation because of their employment, and the victim wasn't a child, there is likely no duty to report.
