Q: Should I go to law schcool?
I have always been fascinated with being a criminal defense attorney. So much so that I got my Bachelor's in Criminal Justice from UAB here in AL. I ended up with an office job in freight logistics making 72k a year and the job is decent. I don't mind doing it, but it's just not where I imagined I would be. My question is, do you think I should go to law school part time while I am working to try and become a criminal defense attorney? Or should I just stick to this path I am on in the logistics world and risk feeling unfulfilled later in life? I ended up with a 2.77 GPA but it was more an issue of being young and irresponsible. I'm 24 now and I'm confident I could make at least a 155 on the LSAT if not higher. What do you think I should do?
A: This is really a question that involves lots of thought. Congratulations on your Criminal Justice degree. That's a big accomplishment. Only you can make this decision, based on your schedule, finances, and personal commitments. Going to law school part-time at night can be consuming, and it will involve considerable sacrifice in terms of free time with family and friends. Continue with your research into the endeavor, take practice LSATs, watch videos of law school classes, speak with people who've gone the part-time route, and try to learn as much as you can.
