London, KY asked in Criminal Law for Kentucky

Q: I need to file an appeal but don't have any income. Can I get legal help?

Possession of meth I went ahead and plead guilty to that I wasn't even guilty of in the first place. The law stopped me at my home and arrested me for a PI on my own front porch and I had some crushed pills in my bra that I willingly surrendered cause I didn't want a contraband charge. It was Xanax. Well they field tested my pills said it came positive for heroin/fentynal. They sent it to the lab and it says found to contain methamphetamine at the 98 percent uncertainty rate? I just went ahead and plead guilty was sentenced to three for three probation and inhouse treatment. It's been a month and a half and I've called my PO literally every other day to see what he's wanted me to do then a family emergency areised about a week abd a half ago and I missed my first home visit with my PO now he's saying I absconded and I have a probation revocation hearing next month in the 14th. Can I get help filing an appeal?

A: You have 30 days from the date of the entry of the judgment within which to file your Notice of Appeal. You can ask the court to appoint you a lawyer to handle the appeal or you can contact your local bar association or legal aid society. Both maintain lists of free and reduced fee lawyers who may be able to help you
