Q: Can dotd and contractor be liable for damage to my car from road construction

I bought a car December of 20, in March of 21 I ended up in some road construction work that we were being flagged to drive through. I proceeded to drive through like normal. Until my serpentine belt started squealing pretty much immediately and I asked the flag boy what was that down on the road? was that sand? And he responded "no mam..that's concrete". Lost or short I ended up having catastrophic damage done to my car and engine and all the suspension and many different parts of the car and it is now immovable I cannot drive it at all I only had it for 3 months and I paid cash for it. The dotd told me to talk to the contractor but the contractor is not responding to me so I need help

A: Your post suggests that the date of incident is in the year 2021----is that correct? If so, you may be out of time as in Louisiana you have 1 year from the date of incident in which to file your tort claim. If you did file a lawsuit and you have a lawyer representing you in said lawsuit then speak to your lawyer. If you filed a lawsuit without a lawyer, then I suggest that you contact a few lawyers in your area, set up appointments/consults with the lawyers---at the appointment please bring a copy of your file and notes, including a copy of the lawsuit you filed, Good luck.
