Scranton, PA asked in Uncategorized for Pennsylvania

Q: MY fiance is a Pa resident & I am a ME resident marrying in Italy & been told PA wont recognize our marriage is this tru

We have reached out to the US EMbassy and are going thru the proper channels to have a legally binding marriage when someone mentioned PA wont recognize or allow us to register our union once home...what can we do?? A friend of a friend that was married overseas had to have a civil service when back home in Pa … I don’t know the reasoning that’s why I’m trying to find out if this is a real thing or not. I’ve called vital statistics and local county courthouse and no one seems to know Pa marriage laws where international marriages are concerned. I was hoping someone that specializes in Pa marriage law would be able to share some knowledge on the subject. Thank you

A: You haven't stated any reason that Pennsylvania wouldn't recognize the marriage.
