Glassboro, NJ asked in Real Estate Law for New Jersey

Q: My ex bf moved out in 2019 but our names are both on the mortgage and title. What are my options? I've paid all bills.

He has never paid for anything. My debt to income ratio is not good enough to convince the lender to put the mortgage in my own name but I can continue to still pay for everything on my own. I am afraid that he will demand to be bought out or to be able to move back in whenever he wants. In 2019 I tried getting a restraining order. At court his lawyer said he didn't want the house just for the temp restraining order to be dismissed. I have not seen him since and he has stopped receiving mail here. Do I have any protection since he has been gone and never paid for anything? Is he responsible for paying back 1/2 of everything Ive already paid for? Does he still have a 50% right to everything? What are my options? Can he make demands at any point? If I sell will he get 1/2 even tho I've paid for everything?
