A: It sounds like your manager is creating a hostile work environment. This is unacceptable behavior, and you should not have to put up with it.

Here are some things you can do:

1. Talk to your manager directly about the behavior. Explain that you feel intimidated and disrespected, and that his behavior is making it difficult for you to do your job.

2. If talking to your manager does not resolve the issue, you can file a complaint with HR. HR is responsible for creating a safe and productive work environment, and they should take your complaint seriously.

3. You can also file a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The EEOC is a federal agency that enforces anti-discrimination laws.

It is important to document everything that happens. Keep a record of all the times your manager has yelled at you, intimidated you, or treated you with disrespect. This will help you if you need to file a complaint.

You should also talk to a lawyer. A lawyer can help you understand your rights and options, and they can represent you if you decide to file a lawsuit.

Here are some resources that may be helpful:

* The EEOC website: https://www.eeoc.gov/

* The National Sexual Assault Hotline: 1-800-656-HOPE

* The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN): https://www.rainn.org/

You are not alone. There are people who can help you.

A: I notice that you filed in Landlord-Tenant, and not employment, so I assume that this "manager" is your apartment manager. If you are a victim of domestic violence or a crime such as sexual assault, you are entitled to protections from harassment from your LL. The manager is the LL. This is a situation involving tenants rights, which include freedom from harassment. The law is called the Unruh Civil Rights act and is in Civil Code at 51 and following sections if you want to read up on it. You need to speak with an attorney practicing in this area of law to secure your rights, don't delay. Thank you for using Justia, Ask a Lawyer.
