Islip Terrace, NY asked in Personal Injury and Products Liability for New York

Q: I ordered a drug reagent kit to test substances & it had no warnings, labels, etc and now I have 2nd sulfuric acid burns

So I ordered a drug reagent kit, it is used just for personal use to test drugs for illicit substances & other bad things that shouldn't be in there. There was no warning labels, there was instructions, but there was no dominant warning (small line), and no ingredient list whatsoever. Nothing on box Nothing says that it contains sulfuric acid and formaldehyde (which I later very badly found out). I like to test my prescribed drugs bc I am very cautious even with pharmaceuticals and some of this reagent, my first time using it, Spilled while testing it on to my hand and then I wipe my forehead so I just wiped it off w my hand & then my forehead cuz it was itchy, and seconds later it started to burn immensely and it was some of the worst pain I've ever been in in my life I almost had to go to hospital. The company is very shady, even on their website there is no real list of ingredients or contents or warnings. What if I died ? If if mail carrier dropped and got hurt? Do I have a case.

A: Sorry to hear what happened to you. Unless you've a significant, permanent injury, the time and expense of a products liability lawsuit against the manufacturer / distributor of this reagent product would not be justified. In the future, probably best to avoid products sold over the web that do not disclose their ingredients or warn of the risks if they come in contact with exposed skin.
