Q: Service dog access denied! I was kicked out with my service dog, they didnt want to check my docs, can I file charges?
Im an employee of the Sun Valley Resort, I went to hang out with my friends at common area of the employee dorms with my service dog, when, after sitting inside for a while, the security person came and told me that the dog cannot be inside, I told him that it's a service animal and that I can provide proof of that and all of the required docs, but he didn't even want to look at them and told me "we have a designated area for service dogs", I replied that service animals don't have a designated area, it's not a pet, and that him kicking us out is the discrimination against ADA, even after that, he still proceeded with his request, he said "you can stay, but the dog cannot" which I obviously didn't want to do, so I just left with my dog, I have the interaction on the video, what can I do about it?
Can I sue them for discimination and what kind of lawyer should I be looking for to represent me? Btw, there are no signs around, that nonresidents are not allowed at the Sun Valley dorms.
A: An Idaho attorney could advise best, but your question remains open for three weeks. This doesn't look like a workers' comp or criminal law matter, and there wasn't a response from the Civil Rights practitioners. Questions sometimes remain unanswered, but at this point, you could try adding the "Animal/Dog Law" and "Employment Law' categories. Good luck
