Houston, TX asked in Traffic Tickets for Texas

Q: I was charged with class c felony a possession charge in 2010 and I went flat in 2015. Been trying to get DL back since.

I thought all fines are wiped clean when you go to prison. But originally my license was suspended from a no seatbelt ticket that a cop gave me when I was the passenger in my friends truck and we have been parked and already sitting in parking lot. Forgot about the court date and I ended up paying the fine but didn't pay the reinstatement fee and got pulled over a while later and explained that to the officer and still have me a driving on suspended ticket and every since then I just couldn't afford to pay my fines and get them caught back up to where I could get my license back. That has stopped me from getting so many different jobs cause I didn't have a license and its hurt me on getting vehicles to work and live.

A: Well, there is no such things as a class c felony in Texas but it is possible to have an old conviction affect your ability to get a driver's license. Calling a lawyer in your area might help. Good luck.
