Belmont, CA asked in Real Estate Law for California

Q: Mgmt. posted 2 units this month that are exactly like mine but are cheaper than mine. I just finished a 1.5 yr lease &

signed a new 1-yr. lease w/ an unfortunate 10% rent increase (effective June, 19). I live in San Mateo County. Why are these 2 units cheaper than mine?

A: The price difference for the two units could be due to factors such as location, unit size, amenities, market demand, or individual landlord decisions. It's best to contact the management company for more information about their pricing policies and any specific factors that may have influenced the recent changes.

A: Only the management can tell you why there is a price difference. Attorneys would not know the answer and could only speculate. If you’re asking if management can legally do this, the general answer is yes.
