A: To report a murder, go to the appropriate law enforcement agency for the area where the murder was committed. If the murder occurred in the City of Waco, you can report the murder to Waco PD or to the McLennan County Sheriff's Dept.

To file a wrongful death lawsuit, you should hire a personal injury attorney in or near McLennan County with experience handling wrongful death lawsuits. Only the statutory heirs of the person who died may bring a wrongful death lawsuit for that person's death. If the defendant(s) is a law enforcement officer with Waco PD, you will want to present evidence that the officer was not acting in an official capacity (i.e. he/she was not on duty or in uniform at the time of the murder) and bring with you copies of the officer's conviction and/or indictment for the murder so the attorney can evaluate the strength of your case.
