North Bergen, NJ asked in Uncategorized for New Jersey

Q: I am being forced to pay for a service despite my request to withdraw from the service.

I signed up my daughter a swim class. The policy does state we have to cancel 30 days before, however I did not foresee withdrawing my daughter until after two classes and noticed her emotional distress. When speaking to the manager she said she could do a courtesy for two weeks instead of the full month even after I explained my concern. I would already lose out on 3 classes. Now I’m being forced to miss out on 5. This policy forces customers to pay for two months without considering unforeseen circumstances.

A: The terms of the agreement generally govern in such memberships. You could review the contract with an attorney to see if they feel differently about the situation. But that could cost more than reaching an amicable agreement. Good luck
