Q: I have an active DVO against my children’s father, I filed for dismissal, can I contact him or do I wait til court date?
The DVO was granted on 6/6/23. We have not had any contact since I filed for an EPO on 5/8/23. I have filed to dismiss the case, the court date is set to 8/15. He is in jail, I would like to reach out to him but don’t want to get either of us in trouble. Do I wait til it is officially dismissed or can I contact him?
A: Wait until the dvo is dismissed. You cannot get into any trouble for contacting him but he can be charged criminally if he has contact with you.
