Herkimer, NY asked in Traffic Tickets for New York

Q: Speeding ticket: Definite or Indefinite? Paperwork doesn’t say. Pay for fine/surcharge? Or pay termination fee? Or both?

This paper is one of the most unclear statements. For a reason, I’m sure.

A: Speeding tickets in New York can be either definite or indefinite. The paperwork should indicate which type it is. If it's definite, you can plead guilty and pay the fine/surcharge. If it's indefinite, you may need to appear in court.

A: Unless this speeding ticket aggregates more than 11 points on your license you need to send in a plea of eiother guilty or not guilty. If you plead guilty they court or agency (depends on the county or town) will send a bill for the fine. If you plead not guilty you will get a court date to challenge the ticket. If you have 11 points your license can be suspending so you MUST show up in court. The Uniform traffic ticket should have a date to respond or appear on the lower left . Talk to a local traffic attorney who can help you.
