Lomita, CA asked in Social Security for California

Q: Am I offered an adequate representation in the ongoing SSDI case?

My case has been going back and forth in the pending SSDI case. Suddenly my representing attorney quit due to a conflict of interests.

Several days later I was contacted by a (legitimate) healthcare and technology company offering help with my SSDI case.

By now I have received papers for signing. But when I asked if they would represent me if my case would need LEGAL representation, the answer was somewhat blurry for me to understand...

Therefore, I want to ask an attorney to comment on my situation, as I am uncertain how to proceed.

Thank you in advance.

A: Apologies on my last response. I had gotten your question confused with that of another person on here. The proper response to your question is as follows:

In California, representation in an SSDI case generally requires expertise in Social Security law and administrative procedures. If the healthcare and technology company cannot definitively confirm that they can provide legal representation, this could be a red flag, especially if your case ends up needing to be argued in a hearing or appealed. For adequate representation, you should consider retaining an attorney who is experienced in SSDI cases and can fully represent your interests in all stages of the legal process.
