Answered

A: The calculation and availability of survivor benefits in your dad's pension plan would primarily depend on the specific terms and provisions of that plan. Typically, pension plans offer survivor benefits to spouses and, in some cases, other designated beneficiaries.

To understand the survivor benefits available, you should review the pension plan documents or contact the pension plan administrator. The terms may include factors such as your dad's age at retirement, the survivor benefit option chosen at the time of retirement, and the duration of the marriage.

If you are eligible for survivor benefits, you will likely need to provide documentation of your dad's death and follow the procedures outlined by the pension plan administrator to claim those benefits.
