A: You can't.

Look, a patent is a business tool. A patent costs about as much as a pick up truck. It is typically a small part of a multi-million dollar set of assets of a company.

If you do not have money for a patent (tens of thousands of dollars), how are you going to have money to enforce it (costing hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars)?

A: Hi there! Here are some general guidelines to help you obtain a patent. I do not recommend that you do this yourself - hire a qualified attorney. However, for your own knowledge and edification, here is a broad overview of the steps needed to take to obtain a patent:

1. Research thoroughly to ensure your invention is novel.

2. Familiarize yourself with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) guidelines and process.

3. Draft a detailed description and clear illustrations of your invention.

4. Carefully review fee schedules and agree on costs upfront.

5. Monitor the progress and ask questions throughout the process.

6. After filing, routinely check the USPTO database for the status.

7. Once granted, ensure you pay maintenance fees to keep the patent active.

A: A patent application usually will cost between $5000 and $10,000 in attorney fees.

They require a huge amount of professional work.

BUT if you really want to do it yourself I highly recommend the Nolo Preaa book by David Pressman called "PATENT IT YOURSELF" - Note I have NO association with the bood, the author or the publisher and receive no benefit by recommending them.

I wrote y\my first patent application using this (before I went to law school) and it got issued ana made money.

Good luck!
