A: In Alabama, obtaining a GED at 17 or 18 doesn't grant you the automatic right to move out without your parents' permission. The age of majority is 19 in Alabama, so until you reach that age, your parents or guardians have authority over your decisions. Emancipation is a challenging legal process in Alabama, requiring financial independence and living independently. Until you turn 19, your parents or guardians have legal authority over your choices. For personalized legal advice tailored to your unique circumstances, it's advisable to consult with an attorney.
