Q: I have a buyout offer for trust and I need it reviewed and my response and counter offer reviewed
I have copy of settlement offer and my response draft and counter offer. Can someone review it and let me know if it’s adequate
A: This is not legal advice as to this specific case you have submitted but information I believe is relevant to your question. That said, you should hire a lawyer to navigate all the possibilities before you. In general, these types of cases can involve many documents. A lawyer will need all documentation involved, including filed estate documents, a will and any contested filings as well as a full copy of the trust, a copy of the decedent’s death certificate and all information concerning the heirs and their relationship to the decedent (and to you) to determine the status of this situation. Depending on the value of such an estate, you would need to decide whether the cost to investigate the status by an attorney is economically feasible based on the possible inheritance or settlement. Also, you would want a lawyer to determine if there is any potential current or future liability to you as a result of executing and agreeing to the settlement. I suggest you weigh up all costs to have a lawyer help make the decision.
