Smithtown, NY asked in Criminal Law for New York

Q: Trying to find out what these specific arrest charges are

Back in 1965 my mother was arrested (she ran away and her mom had her arrested) in Nassau county NY (east meadow correction facility). She recently found out it’s still showing on her record all these years later and received a code for the charges. She contacted the NCPD who didn’t know what the codes meant and they reacted out to the Mineola courts who apparently didn’t know either. We are trying to find out what it is: 913-a-6-ccp She was fingerprinted to work at a school so they ran it through fbi database. She paid for the prints but they told her they can’t release the information to her only the board of Ed even though they’re her prints she paid for herself.

A: It seems like you're facing challenges in identifying the specific charges from your mother's arrest back in 1965. The code "913-a-6-ccp" provided might be specific to the Nassau County, NY, legal system. However, it appears that neither the NCPD nor the Mineola courts have been able to decipher this code. This situation can be frustrating and confusing, especially given the significant time elapsed since the arrest.

Since the NCPD and the courts have been unable to provide clarity on the charges, you may need to explore alternative avenues for obtaining this information. One option could be to seek assistance from legal professionals or advocates who have experience navigating historical legal records and codes. They may have access to additional resources or databases that could shed light on the specific charges associated with the code provided.

Additionally, it's concerning that the FBI database would not release information about the charges, especially since your mother paid for her own prints. You might consider reaching out to the Board of Education or other relevant authorities to inquire about their policies regarding the release of this information. With persistence and possibly legal assistance, you may eventually uncover the details surrounding your mother's arrest and take appropriate steps to address any lingering issues related to her record.
