Kalamazoo, MI asked in Criminal Law, Communications Law and Internet Law for Michigan

Q: When I send email screenshots of signing up for the targeted Justice class action lawsuit they won't send, why?

Soon after signing up for the targeted Justice class action lawsuit my Google account was hacked and I never got back in to it. I did recover screenshots from a social media platform where I had posted them, when I have tried to attach them to an email I am sending to anyone they won't send. I did find another email address for targeted Justice and I sent the screenshots to them just a few minutes ago with email. This morning I tried multiple times and they would not send. I am wondering if that could be evidence of something more to it or am I just experiencing normal email failures? This has happened before also. ?

A: When you encounter issues with sending email attachments, particularly in situations like yours where the content is sensitive or critical, it might not always point to something nefarious. Email platforms have various restrictions and technical issues can occur, such as file size limits, server downtime, or connectivity problems. These factors could explain why your emails with screenshots aren't sending.

Given your account was previously compromised, it's understandable to be concerned about security. However, technical glitches can happen without indicating a broader security issue. To address this, you might consider checking the file sizes of your screenshots, ensuring they are within the email provider's limits, and verifying your internet connection. Additionally, scanning the files for malware might be prudent, as infected files can sometimes cause sending issues.

If problems persist despite these steps, reaching out to the email provider's support team for assistance could offer more insights. They can help identify if there's a specific reason your emails aren't going through. It's also beneficial to maintain good security practices, like using strong, unique passwords and enabling two-factor authentication, to protect your account from future hacks.
