A: If you receive approval for your I-485 application, this means you have been granted lawful permanent resident status in the United States. Once approved, there is no longer a "waiting time" in the context of the I-485 application itself; the approval marks the end of the process for obtaining your green card.

As a lawful permanent resident, you gain certain benefits and rights, such as the ability to live and work permanently in the U.S. However, if you're referring to waiting times for other applications or processes (such as naturalization or sponsoring family members), becoming a resident can indeed affect those timelines, often positively, but these are separate processes with their own requirements and waiting periods.

If it has been nearly four years since you applied and you have not received a decision, it might be wise to contact USCIS or consult with an attorney to check the status of your application and ensure there are no unexpected delays or additional information required from you.
