Q: My father accrued debt in my name. I have evidence of trying to be removed. I am wondering options I have in this case
My Father accrued 16,000 in debt on a lease in my name (& his) when I was 19 and I have never been or lived there…(I am on a lease now here where I live NYC and have been living here since I got out of the navy in 2021) back in 2021 I tried to remove my name from the lease & have proof of this in email in which case it wasn’t removed and I have tried to remove it for the last two years… to which he accumulated debt that he nor the leasing company made me aware of…I’m wondering how much evidence you think I’ll need to fight this in court… he corroborates my statement in that I’ve tried to get my name removed but they’ve continued lease renewal after I stated in email I did not consent to being on the lease any longer…What options do I have?
