Q: Can a 3rd party background check company contact my current employer to verify my employment history without my consent?
This was a background check performed by a 3rd party company as a condition of a job offer I received.
I approved the general background check.
I live and work in Oregon.
When entering my job history information on the 3rd party’s website, I selected “no” when asked if they may contact my current employer.
