Queensbury, NY asked in Family Law, Adoption and Child Custody for New York

Q: adoptive parent let my biological children move back in with me. We are trying to do this legally for the kids.

On the 1-year anniversary of the adoption my biological children moved back in with me. The adoptive mother and I are trying to work together to do this legally. The kids at the time used the adoption as a security blanket. I was in active addiction for a short period of time and before addiction we had a very beautiful life. The girls had also just lost their father due to addiction. They needed time to heal and a let the biological mother prove herself and see that she could support herself on her own. There has been a substantial change in circumstances. This is nothing that has really been done before and we need someone to fight for our children. This part of the law needs change for situations like this.
