Birmingham, AL asked in Family Law and Child Custody for Alabama

Q: Sleeping in bed with step parents

My husband has two children who just turned 9 (boy and girl)and I have a son that is about to be 11. Occasionally the kids want to sleep with us. I have allowed it but the deal is the birth parent sleeps next to them as I don’t feel it’s appropriate to sleep with a child that isn’t biologically yours as too many questions can be raised. He was fine with having his son sleep with us next to me and only wear underwear. I said no. Everyone must wear all clothing to bed. He me to sleep next to his daughter in the middle and him on the outside. I am really uncomfortable with the whole thing. He is upset and says I am being irrational. I believe that the other parents could easily bring something to DHR (they have before over husband sleeping with daughter when she was a small girl) if words were minced that a step parent is sleeping with the kids and I don’t want to bring that on us. There are too many accusations that could be made. Is there a legal standard for this in Alabama?
