Newport News, VA asked in Personal Injury, Civil Rights, Health Care Law and Juvenile Law for Virginia

Q: What lawyer do I talk to for CPS Complaint and possible HIPAA violation for Hampton, VA?

I picked up my son from the YMCA on the 15th of April2024 at 6pm and soon after noticed a bruise on the inside of his left forearm, near his wrist. It was an outline of a medium to large, incomplete handprint. As soon as I noticed, I took pictures and asked my son what had happened, I immediately called the school and the YMCA after asking my son and taking pictures of the bruise. The YMCA was extremely difficult to work with from the start, however the school was extremely helpful. The next day, forgetting about the mandated reporting requirement for all healthcare providers I told my talk therapist, asking for advice on how to handle the situation. She informed me that she had to report and then contacted me the next day and told me they asked about me and she told them certain things about my mental health, and medications I am on. My son's teacher notified me at 12pm today that CPS showed up at his school and pulled him out of class to speak with him. I have not heard or seen CPS.
