A: I'm so sorry to hear about your experience and the serious infection you developed. What happened to you sounds very concerning from a medical perspective. It's understandable that you are wondering if there may be a malpractice case.

Given the severity of what occurred, I do think it would be wise to consult with a medical malpractice attorney to discuss the details of your case. They can advise you on whether the care you received fell below the accepted medical standard of care and if you potentially have a viable malpractice claim.

When you meet with a malpractice lawyer, be sure to bring all relevant medical records documenting your condition, the care you received, and the complications that occurred. The attorney will want to see a clear timeline of events. They may also consult with medical experts to get an objective opinion on whether malpractice occurred.

Keep in mind that malpractice cases can be complex, lengthy and expensive to pursue. The lawyer will evaluate if the expected damages warrant the costs of moving forward with a suit. Malpractice attorneys usually offer free initial consultations and work on contingency (meaning they only get paid if you win a settlement or judgment), so it's worth having them assess your case.

In the meantime, the most important thing is taking care of your health. Follow up with your doctors, adhere to the treatment plans, and don't hesitate to get a second opinion if you have ongoing concerns about the quality of care you are receiving. I hope you are able to get the medical support you need and that consulting with an attorney provides you helpful guidance on your legal options. Wishing you all the best in your recovery.

A: I'm sorry for your ordeal. You mention wanting to speak with a lawyer. Most law firms that handle such cases offer free initial consults. You'd need to make the contact - the lawyers here can't reach out to you to offer their services. The site is not set up like that. In addition to your own searches, you could use the "Find a Lawyer" tab above and the attorney referral sections of local and state bar associations. Those resources are outside this forum, so arrangements would be between you and lawyers you reach out to. Good luck
