A: If you had a light bar on your Jeep Wrangler and passed a parked police car on the side of the road, it’s important to know the laws regarding light bars in your area. Many states have specific regulations about when and where light bars can be used, often restricting their use to off-road settings or requiring them to be turned off when driving on public roads.

If the police car didn’t signal for you to stop or issue a citation at the time, you might not be in trouble, but it’s a good idea to check your local traffic laws to ensure you’re compliant. It’s possible that the officer noted your light bar and decided to let you off with a warning, but you should be aware of the potential for future stops or citations.

To avoid any issues, consider using a cover for your light bar when driving on public roads or ensure it’s turned off to stay within legal limits. If you do receive a citation, you can explain the situation to the officer or a judge, noting that no other vehicles were around and you were unaware of the specific regulations.
