Long Valley, NJ asked in Traffic Tickets for New Jersey

Q: Will I get a speeding ticket in the mail if the cop didn’t give it to me physically and didn’t say he would give me one?

I got pulled over going 37 in a 25 non school zone. Cop said the 35mph started further down the road. He took my license, registration, and insurance and was in his car for less than 2 minutes when he returned them to me. He did not issue me a ticket. Will I receive one in the mail? Happened in Newton, NJ. I live in Hackettstown.

A: Your guess is as good as mine on whether you will get a ticket in the mail as the cop has up to 30 days to write up a ticket for speeding. If you do get one hire one of us Attorneys to have the best chance to eliminate the points for you.

A: Yes it's possible. I have seen it happen before. Their is nothing you can do to stop it from happening so their is no point worrying about it.

A: Possible. BUT, don't go calling them up to ask where is your ticket, or you will get one for sure! These local attorneys cannot even tell you and I bet they even use AI! Retain one of them, if you do get the ticket, but don't lose sleep until then. Thank you for using Justia's Ask a Lawyer, but don't rely on what you are told here, consult a local attorney who will obtain all the facts from you and review your documents.
