Q: Estate Where and for how long do you advertise to creditors to come forward with claims after a person passes?
Thank you to Tim Dennison for info on the will. Will was accepted and executor named now need to know how long advertising for creditors with claims to come forward needs to be posted and where is the legal platform you are to post announcement??…. I did send off letters with the DC but executor wasn’t named yet and some could not or would not accept the info or wanted to talk to executor. There aren’t many accounts nor any of a greater than 2000$ value that I have found ((((just a guess, I think the most I saw was around 1000$))) ) but does that count towards being
Notified ? I notified every creditor that was sending her mail. I know there is a specific reason for advertising but what I want to know is where to advertise and for how long do I leave the advertisement posted? Just want to make sure I can legally wrap this up so property may be transferred in this lifetime haha Thank you in advance.
A: The estate must remain open for six months after your appointment to address any proofs of claim. If you have notified all of the known creditors, you need do nothing else.
