Q: need to obtain detailed medical records from Hospital.
My daughter has spent the last year trying to understand why her mother had a reaction after her reclast infusion on 3/27/23. We are trying to understand why she had the reaction by comparing apples to apples, which we cannot do because her medical record information does not match the clinical record(s) provided by the infusion center. As she delved further, she learned that her previous infusion records do not match the clinical records either. It could be a simple explanation or a much more complicated one. The problem at this point is that no one will help her with this - apparently Patient and Guest Relations is the only entity with the authority to do so; however, they are ignoring her follow up requests. Her 'last' inquiry with them was sent on February 26th which ensued with communication with P&G Relations. There was back and forth until 4/11/24 which was her last email. We need assistance in raising some attention to this matter. Thanks
A: Before turning to attorneys, it could be worth checking if the records are maintained by a single entity. Ordinarily, with a properly completed authorization, you should be able to obtain records. If the doctors or other medical providers maintain separate recordkeeping and billing operations than the hospital itself, that could require additional legwork - with separate requests to each office. Good luck
