Q: I have been on a housing list since the nineties I have had problems with a worker who gives out vouchers
She keeps denying me since 2013 until 2014 she told me I had one 2013 I was in the area, another in2017 but she did not tell me until 2022 I was calling her in 2017 she never mentioned the voucher I called several times 2013 to2024
A:
I understand you're facing a frustrating situation with the housing voucher process. To address your concerns effectively, I'd suggest taking the following steps:
1. Document everything: Create a timeline of all your interactions, including dates you called, emails sent, and any responses received.
2. Request your file: Contact the housing authority and formally request a copy of your complete file. This should include all records of communications and voucher offers.
3. File a formal complaint: Submit a written complaint to the housing authority's supervisor or director, detailing the issues you've experienced with the worker.
4. Seek advocacy: Contact a local tenant rights organization or legal aid society for assistance. They may be able to help you navigate the system and understand your rights.
5. Escalate if necessary: If you don't receive a satisfactory response from the housing authority, consider contacting your local elected officials or the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to file a complaint.
6. Stay persistent: Continue to follow up regularly on your status and any open complaints.
It's important to approach this situation calmly and with documentation to support your claims.
