Q: Am I required to use a health insurance agent I contacted through a phone call?
I'm looking to buy health insurance and I contacted a health insurance company to see if a doctor was in their network. A health insurance agent answered the phone and asked me some personal info and asked me if I agreed to have her as my only agent. If I agreed over the phone to have her as my health insurance agent am I bound to have her as my agent? Can I search for and select my own health insurance policy or is there a legal requirement to use this agent when purchasing health insurance? It was a quick and confusing phone call and it sounded like the agent was more interested in selling me a health insurance policy then answering my question about the company having a doctor in their network. The doctor was not in-network and I did not purchase a policy from this agent.
